February is a very busy month in the media center. We celebrate Black History month, Presidents Day, Valentine's Day, and many other programs that we host.
In Brain Building last week, kindergartners read "Muncha! Muncha! Muncha!", planned and built their solutions for Mr. McGreely's problem of bunnies eating his garden vegetables. Our students are budding engineers, and developed many interesting solutions. In third grade Brain Building, we reviewed digital text features in Ebooks on MackinVia.
First grade TAG students researched Polar Animals. Fourth grade is gearing up for their Historical Fiction unit, so we were busy pulling picture books and novels for them.
We were privileged to host presentations on Dental Hygiene (K & 1st grades) and the Teaching Museum's guest speaker on Martin Luther King, Jr. Our 5th graders were visited by members of the Georgia Commission on the Holocaust. This presentation (in the cafeteria) was riveting, and explored the lives of Holocaust survivors from a perspective of those families who escaped death camps, specifically by, Eva Kaushinska, as told by her daughter Louise Baum.
