Scheduling & Checkout
The Media Center is the "Heart of the School" and serves the New Prospect community. We operate on a flexible-scheduled basis to support curriculum and school community; our Media Center is transitioning to an updated 21st Century Learning model of a "Learning Commons". We are creating a MakerSpace to foster interests in creating and technology. Currently, we have OSMOs, Legos, and Spheros, and hope to add to this list soon.
Mrs. Bercher provides library/media, information and digital literacy lessons, and other lessons requested by teachers. Most classes visit the Media Center approximately twice per month. Because we operate on an open, flexible basis, students may visit independently or in small groups at any time during the school day. Our flexible space can accommodate many groups at the same time. We are a gathering place for MakerSpace, Mayoral visits, PTA meetings, parent meetings, Curriculum Chats, Yearbook Pictures, Canine Assistants presentations, student Milestones testing, Hearing & Vision screenings, State & Federal Elections, New Family meetings, Chess Club, and teacher trainings.
Check-out policies:
Kindergarten students check out 1 book.
First grade students check out 2 books.
Second grade - fifth grade students check out 3 items (either 2 books & 1 magazine OR 3 books).
All books are due back to the Media Center in two weeks; magazines are due the next day, due to their popularity. If students are not finished reading their book, they may renew it. Should a student have an overdue book, he/she cannot check out any new items until the book is returned. If a student loses an item, he/she must pay for it. When sending in money for a lost item, please send in the exact amount because we cannot make change.
Mrs. Bercher is the METI (Media & Educational Tech. Instructor), and Mrs. Marshall is the Media Paraprofessional. We can be reached at 470-254-2800.
Thank you for following our policies,
